Sint-Jansvliet (en)

About 800 years ago, Sint-Jansvliet developed from a natural inlet into a small port where boats could moor. Markets were held on either side of the inlet, including a fruit market and a flax market.
In two years from now, Sint-Jansvliet will be completely redesigned to create more space for the basketball court and terraces. The future design will take into account the archaeological remnants of the quay walls of Sint-Jansvliet, which is why archaeologists of the city will start to dig archaeological trenches in early March to determine the exact location and condition of these underground remnants.
