Command bunker

During the 1930s, the threat of an impending war became increasingly real. The Passive Air Raid Defence was established to protect the population in case of bombing. The department could coordinate its actions and warn the population using a network of sirens, out of this bunker. The bunker had its own switchboard, air filters and emergency power supply.
The bunker was originally built in the inner courtyard of a barracks of the Gendarmerie or military police. In the 1970s, the barracks was demolished to make way for a new residential neighbourhood. The bunker remained in place, however and the Civil Protection even used the bunker until 1986.
