Bishop's Palace

During World War I, the German occupying forces requisitioned the building. The military tribunal used the council chamber when in session. In 1918, it reverted back to the Province of Antwerp, which decided to install a memorial in the chamber that commemorates the death sentences and sentences to forced labour which were imposed here. The Germans removed and destroyed the bronze plaque by Josué Dupon during World War II. After the war, the plaque was replaced with a scale model of it, which was made in 1920.
